I actually enjoyed this one . Its funny in the beginning as all british films normally are . But its the same load of crap . I wasnt expecting much from this film and definitely didnt get any . Still a fun watch if you have nothing better to do . It gets a bit irritating towards the end and it really could have been a lot lot lot better . Also the title has nothing to do with the movie .

Pretentious . One word description . Its hard to believe that this film is from a person that made "trainspotting" the masterpiece that it is . If one were to give it a thought , its pretty obvious why the film is such a load of crap . Its the bollywood way of doing things . Make a shit film , fill it with some more shit , and then over hype it like its the second coming of christ . Bottomline , any tom dick and moron will go watch it , love it , thinking "look at me, im watching pure cinema , im an intellectual" and off your coffers go filling themselves . What a complete load of crap . The acting is sub standard , poor little slum boy that speaks with a british accent . The oh so brilliant actress , who isnt in the film for more than 15 minutes . Last but not least , the heart wrenching story , that makes as little sense as creationism . Fodder for the masses , might as well enjoy it before Lalu whacks it . Pathetic , absolutely pathetic . The camera work was interesting in the begining , and the sound effects were nice , but all was drowned out in the big pile of shit that is this film .

A long movie compared to other films of this genre and standard , it goes on and on and on and well it just isnt funny . There is a lot of cursing , but that too is not funny . This edition of the moronic capers of the octopenissy sends him to India where he finds the super villan "Octopussy" in her masion in the middle of the lake populated solely by semi naked women and well its no surprise what he does to her . Apart from that it has vijay amritraj doing wheelies in an auto rickshaw while at the same time hitting the bad guys with his tennis racket . Well all I can say is Bond sure the hell is tacky !! Waste of time .

Dil Kabaddi ?? Husbands and wives ?? Is this a copy or a translation . I feel the movie husbands and wives dubbed in hindi would have beaten this stupid waste of time hollow . It is an absolute copy , frame by frame . Even the dialouge is the same ! EXACT SAME ! only of course just translated into hindi and in places where you cant translate them into hindi the makers of this movie did not have the common sense to look up a fucking thesaurus . Watch it if you are some sort of uber moron like me else just watch the real thing with subtitles if you cant understand the english . Absolute waste of time , I didnt event bother finishing it for obvious reasons .

This is the best of the Earth , Fire and Water (Elements Trilogy - Deepa Mehta) . A film about the partition of India in 1947 the film is based in Lahore and shows the partition through the eyes of a secular group of friends . Amazing performance by the cast and everyone does an amazing job , exceptionally Nandita Das and Aamir Khan . This is a sort of film that will not only move you , disgust you , but most importantly leave you thinking . A very very good film .

When I was younger I remember reading about this particular film and how it had challenged the preconceived notion of cinema with "Indian values" . This film is brutally straight forward , it does not believe in putting oaks in front of lovers to symbolize whatever it is people do behind oak trees . The acting is amazing . Nandita Das as well as Shabana Azmi are such brilliant actors and they play their roles to near perfection . And as before the all english script is a bit off putting at first but the somehow the actors play their part so well that the choice of language does not matter . Even the male actors did an amazing job and its great seeing Javed Jaffri putting his talents to good use . Its a very nice film with complex emotions potrayed very well . Am amazing watch .

Started off real slow , but as the film progresses it evolves into a complex emotion . A long film by normal standards , it follows the life of a self chosen tramp and his travels across the country to his final realization . It ends very beautifully . Worth the watch .

Firstly it feels very weird mostly because the film is in english . If you can get used to that then you will notice that the acting on the part of the women specially is very good . The men well they are pretty average . It seems very stupid at first , but for some reason Mira Nair is able to weave her magic into this film as well . As the film progresses I feel it becomes a lot better and overall a decent watch .

However there are a few discrepancies that tend to creep in towards the end in a bid to try and hold the story together . Ignoring that it is a very entertaining film , I was at the edge of my seats for some reason waiting to watch how it ends . Overall nice film .

A film about the north african soldiers that fought for France in World War II . A little forced at first , but eventually unravels beautifully . A world war II movie , it follows the lives of a select company comprised of muslim soldiers from the colonies of Algeria and others in north africa and their fight against not only the germans but also against their own side to prove that they are just as capable and dedicated as anyone else . An overall beautiful film , and well worth the watch .

This is a very different sort of film . Its had Jean Claude Van Damme playing himself in real life , a sort of autobiography set in a drama . Performance is strong , and the movie by itself a lot deeper than anything that has had this particular actor in before - at least from the list of movies that I have seen . Unfortunately it still seems amateurish and thus the below average rating . But its a nice fresh film , very unexpected from JCDV .

This is a musical . Its about a young woman about to find her father and in the process invites the three probable candidates to her wedding . The story is absolute candy floss bubblegum pink but the I really liked the presentation . At first the music seemed stupid , but then as one got used to the musical it was a really enjoyable presentation . The fact that I enjoy ABBA also helped as all the songs were based on the ABBA tunes . Overall a good watch .

This film was a disappointment . After the amazing Behja Fry I was actually looking to laugh my socks off at this Vinay Pathak film , but unfortunately that was not to be . An interesting incident though did occur during the screening of the film . Had gone to Fame Hiland Park to watch it on the day it released and having bought our tickets the night before Sharayna and me turned out to be the only two people watching the film in the entire hall . It was a sort of private screening . It didnt live up to expectations and was an overall disappointment . What I had expected was along the lines of Bheja Fry , but this film didnt deliver .

Oh my floyd , I just gave a mainstream commercial bollywood film an average rating . Have the pigs started flying backwards yet ? Well first of all let me justify my decision . To be very honest , this film is shit compared to all other films of the same rating . The reason it gets an average is very simply because I really enjoyed it . Its a laugh riot , at least most of it , and when its not funny its incredibly stupid – bollywood style . However to enjoy this film as I did , one must look beyond the usual bollywood nonsense , filter out the crap and enjoy the cream . It is very rare that I can enjoy a film of this nature and I would credit this feat to a certain best friend of mine . She has mentored me through the worst of bollywood and only after much training under her can I say , I appreciate this film . Thanks budddy :)

The story is complete nonsense and and lacks basic consistency and sense , but then that is one of the things one needs to ignore in most bollywood wonders . The acting is pretty decent , John Abraham accredited with messing up quite a list of films - the worst being kabul express – does a decent and bearable job in this one . Abhishek is good and Priyanka Chopra carries of her role very very well . The other man who's name I cannot remember is barely average and maybe wasn't best suited for the role . Boman Irani is really good at what he does and gets full marks on his short performance . The music was minimal , which is a big thumbs up . Watching it in the theatre means no fast forwarding and a film with too much music and dance sequence tends to irritate me . All in all a very scrumptious film with enough eye candy for both men and women , but pretty funny all the same . It was a good watch .

Chaturanga or “Four Chapters” is an adaptation a story by Rabindranath Tagore by the same name . It potrays four main characters and their attempt at finding meaning in their lives . The acting is average and I had a bit of trouble with the language , a bit too authentic bengali for my understanding . However the cinematography was good and it was a pleasure watching it an Nandan . It was a bit difficult to make meaning of it all , and maybe a few more watches might solve that problem . However as of now it stands with a below average .

Firstly let me say that I actually liked the film . The rating is because it was just about average and thus below average only by a little . The film is a sort of mixture of sorts , it is the portrait of a man in his final days . Diagnosed with fatal stomach cancer and with only 3 months to live , the protagonist played by Vinay Pathak tries to do all the things he had always wanted to do but was never able to because of his sedimentary life . He makes a sort of to do list and does all the things one by one . Its funny in some parts and serious in others and although overall the film did not leave a deep impression some of the scenes were very moving . The acting is superb , Vinay Pathak is a brilliant actor and it is a pleasure to watch him do his work , he does it brilliantly . Worth the Rs50 morning show at Fame Hiland Park .

Just got home on saturday and guess whats on , The kolkata film festival . Had to attend that , and this was the only film I was able to watch there missing out Nandita Das's Firaaq due to excess demand for tickets . However this one was very good . Set in Romania , its a film about how a station master with a personal grudge against America stops a NATO convoy manned by american soldiers from passing through his station . Its funny and at the same very realistic . In my books this was a very good and worthwhile watch .

The acting is impeccable and the story has been so well made that it keeps one on tenterhooks . A very good watch , in fact it would probably be rated as average but for some reason am feeling most generous . Sean Connery , Al Pacino , Kevin Costner all do brilliant roles .

They get lost in the jungle and some of them get captured by drug smugglers and how they have to live their roles in rescuing the hostages .

The reason i would give for this is that sometime ago I started watching movies with such frenzy that I decided it was too much work to document each and every film I saw into this blog . So i started using the Movies application on facebook . Unfortunately ever since my port to Ubuntu and my failure in trying to install adobe flash player onto firefox i am no longer able to use the application . Thus my return to the blog .

This documentary was brutally honest . Its strange to think that someone would like to talk about his life in such a public manner , but then again people have a right to what they want to do . There was no bias , and I liked it . Overall a good watch .

It started of well . An old world war II espionage film . With more britts than yanks the dialogue was a bit less "expressive" . However as the movie progressed the story started spouting holes . Loosely held together the details seemed of little importance towards the end . The film sacrifices a good story for the sake of some action and thrill , something very common in bollywood films and frankly something i could do without .Though the twist is nice , but frankly i would have preferred a better planned out and researched story . Something that started off with an "Average" will now have to settle for a "Below Average" .

Have you ever experienced a film in which the story or rather the director plays with your deepest emotions . How he brings them out , as though your feelings are just like putty in his/her hands . This film did that too me . It really brought out some very strong emotions , something that hasnt happened in the recent past , and again doused them just in time . How easy it was to just play with those feelings . I really enjoyed the film , and i'm not talking about Monica's breasts . I think its a must watch for any young person . More so for any young woman . It gives such insight into a young boys life , how they are how they behave and why they behave the way they do . It gives an insight on life love society and encompasses a huge array of emotions that comes with them . Its really really good . I would definitely recommend this film . Beautiful .

Well first and foremost , i don't think its possible for Mel Gibson to ever make a movie about human compassion . I cant complain about this one , except for the last part which nearly touched bollywood standards . Gore !! thats what the movie is all about , but then you have to cut them some slack , a movie about central america in the mayan age what the hell do you expect ? love and compassion ? Very direct , no room for "happy" moments , well there shouldnt be any anyways life not all about being happy and safe , at least not for most people . As i mentioned before last part got a bit bollywoody/ramboish , could have been kept a bit more quaint but then i guess he likes pushing it . I would classify it as pretty commercial , but then it was quite a battle on wether to give it "Average" or "Above Average" , to be honest , am still not pretty sure if i made the write decision . But then what the hell its just a film . Anyways pretty gripping as far as the action and cinematography is concerned , story on the major level plays hardly any role .

Another documentary from the same people that gave us the previous one , but this one is not about "pirate bay" , in fact this one is about the whole concept of filesharing as a whole . They argue for the case of filesharing over the internet as compared to the "piracy is a crime" advertisements that we have all at some point of time or the other seen . It started off quite weak , or it seemed quite weak , their argument - though presented very well , a lot better than the last one - seemed to have a lot of holes in it . But then towards the end of the film , they do bring out one valid point which does get the viewer thinking - that is if you are capable of thinking , else you'll just miss it - and well the movie ends with an "above average" rating . It certainly gave me a couple of ideas to defend file sharing , but then it could have included so much more . Watch out corporates , communism wasn't just a failed government , its a way of life , and no matter what you call it , you know one day it will bring you down or go down fighting . The fight continues .

For those who don't know what bittorrents are , well frankly they need to go hang themselves , or you can click here . Its their story of why they do what they do and how they do it . Its the story of how the MPAA (motion pictures association of america) got the US govt to pressurize Sweden into trying to stop the pirate bay , which according to Swedish law is illegal . Its the story of how even after all their servers were confiscated the pirate bay was up and running in not more than a day . This is the power of the internet , this is the power of freedom . These people are heroes and their example should be one we all look up to . Corporates beware , the war is on . If you think you can muscle your way into our freedom , think again . The internet is all powerful , it does not take sides . Quality of the documentary is average , hey cut them some slack , they run a website not film studio , but its an interesting watch none the less . However don't look for any material to back you up , if you intend to take on the corporate world vs aam aadmi debate , there isnt much there and whatever is there isnt all that great . Its just a story of the Pirate Bay Team . Rock on guys !!

A very nice film . A bit explicit , and if you are someone who cant handle watching women and men do the most incredible thing they can do , then maybe this film is not for you . The point is to look beyond the sex , at the "human touch" . This film has a very strong human touch , and i really love that in a film mostly because its so rare . All in all an incredibly sweet film , it brings out human nature beautifully . I loved it .

Well believe it or not , throughout this documentary i was actually siding with the moderate Christians . Which is very weird because i am an Agnostic->Atheist (Agnostic tending towards Atheist) . But the documentary is good for two specific reasons . One , it shows that the bible isn't the last word in everything and it is possible that some parts of it are complete "shit" , in fact if you were to take my opinion i'd say that most parts of it are complete shit , and anyone who uses it as a means to live life as a good human being , does not have capabilities to judge right from wrong and thus needs a 2000 year old book to tell him/her what to do. Anyways people are stupid and we cant expect everyone to be able to think for themselves , and the second good thing about this documentary is for those people. This is not an anti-Christian documentary , but rather a moderate vs hardliner debate . Thus it is actually watchable by people who have "faith" in stupidity . They cannot dismiss it as complete blasphemy as they would to reasoning thus if we cant completely cure them of stupidity at least we can make them a little nicer than they already are . Thus all in all a good documentary . Also emotional in certain parts . Lacked Christian bashing , but then again its worth it .

It talks about what would have happened if a caveman had survived to this day and age , and specially when the caveman claims he was jesus and tests the faith of those attending the conversation . There is no solid proof or evidence that accompanies the film , its a work of fiction an idea . Its not going to convince any christian hardliner , but then i don't think anything can convince such people . If you are an open minded person and wish to look at another point of view contrary to the garbage that you have been systematically fed then this is a good film to enjoy . All in all a barely average film . Nothing incredible .

Welcome to one and all . From this day onwards i have decided to resume my film archive blog . This blog will henceforth contain all the movies i happen to come across and with a short write up on how the film made me feel it will contain a rating for the film . Namely Outstanding / Above average /Average / Below average / Crap . This will help me and anyone with the same taste as me in films to classify films for future viewing . Do i want to hear your opinion on any of my comments ? frankly no , not really , but if you feel strongly enough leave me a comment and i will read it .
